After a 37-year career at Dunlop Tires in Tonawanda, NY, along with several decades of ministering to inmates at Gowanda, Attica, and Collin’s Correctional facilities, Reverend Reginald E. Kerr felt called to find new ways to expand his service. This call to serve the community led him to found the Temple of Christ Church in 2005. Three years later, upon recognizing the greater challenges the community was facing, Pastor Kerr and his wife
Sarah established My Place Home for the Homeless Inc. to provide shelter, meals, and critical resources to women and children in need.

that his charitable acts of love would inspire others to join in and carry on this mission. Since 2008, My Place Home for the Homeless has grown and evolved in countless ways to meet the changing needs of our community; and it is thanks to one couple’s perseverance, imagination, and ambition that we are here today, continuing the increasingly important work of fighting housing insecurity.
What began with one couples vision has grown into a movement dedicated to eradicating homelessness in Buffalo, Erie County, and beyond.
